Our valued customer contacted us with the request to reprocess a parcel of approximately 15.000 metric tons of ULSD (Ultra-low-sulphur-diesel)

Parcel found to be off spec on appearance and supposedly contaminated with water. Analysis however, showed that water content of this parcel was within specification, therefore MarTest Cambrian was requested to perform additional lab-filter tests and analyzed in order to examine the possibilities for onsite filtration/reprocessing of this parcel.

During lab filtration tests, MarTest Cambrian discovered, that after performing multiple particle filtrations in series, product was again bright and clear. Findings were shared with the cargo owner and permission was granted to perform a terminal site visit in order to discuss possibilities for on-site filtration.

During our site visit all operational and safety matter was discussed with terminal representatives. Based on required equipment and operational assistance a quotation and a plan of approach were forwarded to cargo owners and insurance agents. After receiving the green light barely two days after first request for on-site filtration, a method statement including task risk analysis was issued and forwarded to all parties involved. Together with terminal operators, a team of four MarTest Cambrian operators multiple particle filter units and additional equipment was located inside tank pit next to receiving shore tank. Upon connecting of equipment an on-site kick-off meeting was conducted. Before actual start of filtration a pressure hold-test was executed in order to detect possible leakage(s)

During filtration a flow rate of 250 m3/h was achievable, however, due to constantly monitoring of the process MarTest Cambrian operators adjusted the flow rate in order to achieve optimum results during a single pass.
