The purpose of the “MagFil Indicator” is to detect ferrous particulates during a product transfer. The indicator can be used during tank to tank transfer at the storage terminal or during vessel loading/discharge activities.
The MagFil indicator is basically a DN150 stainless steel spool piece equipped with a magnetic by-pass. During the transfer approximately 1% of the total volume flows through the bypass containing a strong magnet. Using this indicator will not affect the normal flowrate nor the quality of the product. The main reason to connect the indicator is to provide insight into whether the product was containing ferrous particles before entering the tank.
